He was given the opportunity for a major career change from some 20 odd years owning his own cabinetmaking business to real estate. The small independent family company he now worked for expanded and on opening an office in Brisbane in 2003 Gary obtained his full Real Estate Licence and was appointed Licensee in Charge of their Highfields office. This became a family affair with both Heather and their son David joining the Highfields team.

In 2006 the family made a decision to relocate to Wondai to expand their successful Square Meaters Stud Cattle operation which they had established in 2002. This also gave them the opportunity to put into practice what they had all learned in real estate and establish their own real estate office in Wondai selling Real Estate. A lot of houses in the Wondai Real Estate industry have been sold by Gary Sewell now principle at Wondai Property Sales.

In 2018 after 12 years operating as the leading agents for Sales and Property Management in Wondai under the Bunya Realty Banner Gary and Heather sold the property management side of their business. This has now given them the opportunity to concentrate on property sales under the new entity of Wondai Property Sales selling Residential houses for sale in Wondai as well as land for under $100,000 in Wondai.
